AI video can make wrong facts look polished
The most dangerous AI video mistake is not always an awkward scene. It is a wrong claim that looks finished. If the captions are clean, the voiceover sounds natural, and the visuals feel relevant, the final reviewer can stop questioning the substance and start thinking, “This is ready to publish.”
The problem shows up after rendering. If a statistic is outdated, a product description is inaccurate, or a cited example is missing context, you are not fixing one video file. You may need to revisit the script, narration, captions, visual choices, and public description together.
That is why fact-checking belongs before the script turns into a rendered video, not only at the final publish step.
Why catch facts at the script stage?
By the time a video reaches the render gate, many decisions are already attached to the words.
- The narration and captions have been shaped.
- Scene-level media prompts and image candidates have been chosen.
- BGM, aspect ratio, subtitle style, and output settings are often decided.
- Reviewers start looking for polish instead of questioning the claims.
If a factual error appears there, the fix may not be a single sentence. The caption length, voice timing, media selection, and scene order can all move.
If you check sources while the script is still flexible, the rest of the AI video workflow becomes safer. A correction stays a script edit instead of becoming a re-render.
What VMAI supports in the current workflow
VMAI currently starts video creation from four input modes: Subtitle, Audio, Script, and Idea. In Idea mode, the user enters an idea, chooses script language and target video length, and then moves into script generation. The current code requires at least 10 characters for the idea input and accepts up to three reference URLs. Web research is a separate option shown before script generation and is displayed as a 2 Credits action in the UI.
Script mode accepts an existing text script and turns it into the starting point for video creation. The current screen checks minimum script length, plan-based character limits, estimated duration, and language mismatch warnings. On the backend, Script mode requires script_text, segments the text, and then moves into the media decision flow.
The takeaway is simple: because VMAI treats the script as a core production input, the script should be fact-checked before it becomes the basis for scenes, narration, and media selection.
A five-step fact-check before rendering
1. Mark numbers, dates, and comparison claims first
Start with phrases such as “latest,” “most,” “first,” “twice as much,” “top 1%,” or any claim that depends on a specific source. These lines can make a video persuasive, but they also create the biggest trust risk when wrong.
Use simple marks in the draft.

2. Choose reference URLs by role, not by quantity
If you use reference URLs in Idea mode, do not only fill every slot. Give each source a role.
- One source should be the official rule, product page, or original document.
- One source should show a real-world example or usage context.
- One source should add a limitation, warning, or opposing view.
This reduces the chance that every source points in the same direction. For topics that change over time, such as products, policies, pricing, platform rules, or market claims, official sources should come first.
3. Decide whether current web research is worth the Credits
Not every video needs current web research. Evergreen topics such as caption readability, pre-publish checklists, or production planning can often be handled with a clear brief and manual review.
Web research is more useful when the video depends on:
- product, policy, or pricing changes from this year;
- a platform’s current upload requirements;
- recent examples in a news-style video;
- numbers, rankings, or comparisons used as the main argument.
Because VMAI displays web research as a separate Credit action, decide first whether accuracy in this scene is worth the extra step.
4. Do not try to speak every source in the video
Short videos cannot behave like research papers. Instead, separate sources into two layers.
- Production notes: sources the creator uses to verify the script.
- Viewer context: links or plain-language notes in the video description, pinned comment, blog post, or Showcase description.
Putting every source into the voiceover can slow the video down. But relying only on memory makes factual drift much easier.
5. Connect the check to your publish workflow
Fact-check once before rendering and once before publishing. Before rendering, check script accuracy. Before publishing, check title, description, tags, rights, sensitive information, and viewer context.

When should you regenerate, and when should you edit one line?
A factual error does not always mean the whole video should be rebuilt.
- Edit one line when only a number, wording strength, or example term is wrong.
- Revisit the scene when the mistake changes the logic, visual choice, or caption structure.
- Rewrite the brief when the core premise is wrong or the sources do not support the video.
Speed matters in AI video production. But fast rendering is less useful if it quickly locks in claims that should never have reached the render stage.
Bottom line: fact-checking is a speed tool
Stopping at the script stage to check numbers, sources, freshness, and wording can feel slower. In practice, it is faster than discovering the same issue inside a finished render.
A safer AI video maker workflow looks like this:
- Prepare the idea or script.
- Mark risky claims and source notes.
- Resolve factual issues before video production continues.
- Use review and rendering for scene quality.
- Re-check rights and context before publishing.
The faster AI can make a video, the earlier people need to decide what is actually true.
